This week it’s time to improve our relationships with Gary Chapman’s ‘The 5 Love Languages‘.

The cover looks very cheesy, I know. But I’m gonna say it already, at the start – worth a read! I feel like most of us have troubles in relationships of some kind, be it with friends, family members or partners. And Chapman is here to help us!

The whole book talks about how different people have different ways of showing love and receiving love.

  1. Quality Time
  2. Words of Affirmation
  3. Gifts
  4. Acts of Service
  5. Physical Touch

Some people show love by touching and physical closeness, others prefer to say ‘I love you’. And we all appreciate certain ways of receiving love more than others.

My love languages are the words of affirmation and physical touch. And you can take the quiz that will tell you what yours are right here!

The book made me realize that just because I thought I was showing love to people close to me didn’t necessarily mean that they got that. What if my friends think of me saying nice things to them as worthless, and would prefer if I did something for them that would make their lives easier? This has led me to some VERY uncomfortable conversations with my friends, but in the long run? Worth it!

‘The Five Love Languages’ kind of opened my eyes, I feel like even if you don’t read the book you should at least take the test and send it to other people; and rethink some of your relationships.
